Company History

Established in 1957 by Al W. Dugan, an independent figure in the oil and gas industry, With a background spanning various aspects of exploration and mining since 1952, Mr. Dugan participated in numerous projects, both domestically and abroad.

Mr. Dugan’s entrepreneurial ventures extended to the co-founding of public companies, including Duquesne Natural Gas (1965), Oxoco (1975), Texon Energy Corp. (1976) and Crown Resources (1986). Additionally, he was involved with affiliated private Companies such as Delaware Royalty Company, Inc., Houston Resources Corp., and Anglo Exploration Corporation.

In the 1980s, Nortex adopted a strategic shift, focusing on acquiring non-operating working interests, royalties, and overriding royalties. The company prioritized gas production and favored large acreage positions for future development. This strategic approach enabled Nortex to expand its oil and gas asset base through the development of its existing acreage under production.
